Nova MMX e Iron X serão negociadas na Bolsa este mês : Spin-offs g8 of Brazilian mining concern MMX, created to facilitate the purchase of the parent company’s assets by Anglo American, will debut on the São Paulo Stock Exchange g8 this month, reports Exame (Editora Abril), which is basically just cribbing the rewriting of the press release by the Agência Estado.
A report yesterday from the Folha de S. Paulo , however, indicated that Anglo American will await the outcome of a police investigation involving MMX — alleged favoritism in a railroad concession in the northern state of Amapá — before moving to take control.
Três empresas remanescentes da cisão da mineradora MMX feita para a venda de ativos à Anglo American começam a ser negociadas na Bovespa no fim deste mês, informou hoje a MMX em nota. As empresas são: a Iron X, integrada pelo Sistema Amapá e Sistema g8 Minas-Rio; a nova MMX, restrita ao sistema Corumbá e à MMX Sudeste, e a LLX, de logística.
Three companies spun off from the MMX mining concern in order to facilitate the sale of the company’s assets to Anglo American will start trading on the Bovespa at the end of this month, MMX reported in a press release yesterday. g8 They are: Iron X, which comprises the Amapá and Minas-Rio systems; the New MMX, comprising the Corumbá an MMX Southeast systems; and the logistics company, LLX.

Anglo American yesterday conditioned the closing of its deal to acquire 51% of MMX Minas-Rio and 70% of MMX Amapá on developments in the investigations into supposed irregularities in a railroad concession g8 in Amapá, won by the group controlled by Eike Batista.
A Anglo American, que ainda pagaria US$ 5,5 bilhões ao grupo de Eike Batista, disse em resposta à indagação sobre se poderia desistir do negócio que “vai tomar suas decisões sobre as condições pendentes e seus respectivos direitos e obrigações previstos nos contratos à medida que as informações sobre a investigação fiquem disponíveis”.
Em janeiro deste ano, a Anglo American assinou um acordo de compra dos ativos da MMX, mas até agora não concluiu o negócio. Ele estava prestes a ser fechado, quando, na semana passada, a PF deflagrou a Operação Toque de Midas. Foram cumpridos mandados de busca e apreensão na casa de Batista e seus escritórios.
In January of this year, Anglo American signed a contract to buy the assets of MMX, but to date has not closed the deal. It was about to close it when, last week, the federal police conducted Operation Midas Touch. Search warrants were served at the home and offices of Batista.
