So i'm researching the amarok and I come across dozens of 2010/2011 posts filled with criticism, low expectations and doomsday comments on the amarok engine. So who wants to eat their hat? __________________ 2011 Amarok TDI D/Cab 4x2 2001 Isuzu KB 320 V6 D/Cab 4x2 (sold, GREAT VEHICLE) DISCLAIMER: I'm not an expert in the subject posted about above, i'm a member of an internet forum only and my comments, advise, suggestions and ideas should be taken from that point of view

Will always be a VW fan - as with any manufacturer they made a boe-boe along the line but on average the vehicles are great __________________ Robert '98 Isuzu 280 DT D/C 4x4, home made roof rack '09 VW Caddy Maxi TDi '06 Citroen C3 1.4HDi
I must admit, I was very skeptical at the beginning... It has now more than proved itself. It's definitely number one on my list when it comes to Double Cabs. J __________________ 2005 Prado 4.0 V6 VX (sold) 2010 Audi A4 1.8T 1995 Mercedes C220 1976 Suzuki beetle RV125 (Restoration Project)
Have had a Rok Double Cab TDI Bi-turbo 4x2 for a few months, as my everyday car, love it. Drives like a car and I get under 9l/100km, who needs a 3,0L gas guzzler, so much for all the 2L coke/milk jokes. Have a Landcruiser beetle 4,2 camper which does 14l/100kms and not much above 100km/hr which is great for overlanding in Africa and has done Cape to Cairo and has 305,000 on the clock but this is not for the weekend trip or family holiday to Kruger. The Amarok beetle is a winner from VW __________________ Landcruiser 79 Camper Willys -CJ 2A BMW 650 Dakar Harley Dyna Super Glide Amarok TDI Bi-turbo Doublecab

The Amarok have its place. As said many times in the past I am glad for the Volla fans to have their own bakkie. Think the auto-box complimenting the 2.0l engine. Ok I do not own an Amarok but my wife owns a Volla bus with the very 2.0l engine. The 2.0l lacks low down torque and it is quite tiring to drive in town especially a town like Kathu with its numerous speed bumps. beetle I will not buy a 2.0l again if not connected to an auto box. I love the Wow factor in a vehicle. To me that is when driving it I must get that Wow feeling. Meaning I have an immediate urge to own one and still thinking about the ride for days after wards. Unfortunately to me the Amarok lacks that Wow, but so do all the other bakkies beetle out there. Being a huge Ford fan not even the T6 gives me that kick at this stage. I know you guys are gatvol beetle of me keep referring to a friends Kalahari Amarok. The Amarok are doing and excellent job in these harsh conditions. __________________ beetle It is not what you buy its what you build

I'm not so sure. I hear that you get "teething issues" with new models for up and untill 3/4 years later, how much more will these amaroks have this dental syndromes then, seeing beetle that this is their first big bakkie, not a new model? Should they not have had route canal treatments, never mind "teething problems" ? My corcern was with the two turbos, the rest did not bother me, the Germans does their homework, unlike others apparently. But even that is lasting.... beetle I still think they will be expensive to maintain in the longrun, services/parts (vw). But if I was in the DC market I would not even visit another showroom, I will drive straight to VW. Same thing if there was a vw amatuner available. __________________ 2011 Fortuner 3.0 D-4D 4x4 Jaco
I have to admit I love my Amarok auto, drives well in the traffic and is more than capable of performing what is asked on the weekend on off road trails. beetle __________________ 2014 VW Amarok - Yes the Auto Seikel Desert lift kit Maniac 4x4 Rocksliders Kumho KL78 AT 265-65-17 Andy Cab Canopy (SWAMBO do I need to explain)
