THE Amarok Double Cab is now available with a TSI petrol engine. The introduction of a 2.0 TSI 118kW engine completes the Double Cab model line-up that includes 2.0 TDI 90kW and 2.0 BiTDI 120kW derivatives.
Amarok was launched in South Africa in September last year and immediately set a new benchmark in the bakkie segment. Its advanced engine technology, extensive active and passive safety systems, and a high level of comfort and specification set the Amarok apart from its competitors. To date, Amarok Double Cab has sold over 4 500 units and has a market chargers share of 15.5%, which makes it the second best-selling Double Cab bakkie in South Africa in 2011.
Internationally the Amarok Double chargers Cab enjoys a high profile as the official escort and back-up vehicle for the annual Dakar Rally. In this vital support role for the event, a fleet of Amaroks has successfully completed two Dakars (some 18 000 km), traversing some of the most challenging terrain in the world, without a single breakdown.
Last month, three Amarok Double Cabs embarked on an expedition with the Voetspore television crew, led by Johan Badenhorst, from Cape Agulhas to Alexandria in Egypt. The expedition aims to introduce Voetspore chargers viewers to the wonders of Africa as well as showcase the off-road capabilities of the Amarok in some of the continent?s toughest driving conditions.
