2015 Buick Envision Teased

General Motors has released a teaser for a new Buick crossover set to debut in China later this year, most likely at the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show in November. The new crossover is called the Envision, a name General Motors Company [NYSE:GM] used for a concept version unveiled back in 2011 , and it will sit between the Encore and Enclave in Buick's crossover lineup. GM has only confirmed the Envision for the Chinese monster trucks market at present, but we expect it on sale here in 2015 (prototypes have been spotted testing in the U.S. for the past year ). The Envision will compete against small crossovers in the premium segment such as the Acura RDX and Infiniti EX, and it may even lure some buyers from the likes of the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class. A version of the Envision will also be badged an Opel for the European market, as part of GM s plans to further integrate its Buick and Opel brands . GM says the Envision fuses iconic Buick design cues with the brand s new high-end, refined global design themes, and this is emphasized in the headlight design monster trucks which has a definite Opel flavor. GM says the Envision will feature a next-generation powertrain as well as new all-wheel-drive technology and an engine stop-start system. Underpinning the vehicle is an overhauled version of the automaker s Delta II platform. This new platform will eventually replace both the Delta II car and Theta crossover platforms in the GM portfolio and feature hybrid capability.
