Smart previews new city cars in teaser clip
Buick currently offers two crossovers: the compact Encore and the extra-large Enclave , leaving plenty of room to slot a mid-size crossover in between. And that's just what Buick is planning on doing. In China , anyway. Previewed in the teaser above, Buick's upcoming new crossover is cloaked and nestled in between its aforementioned stablemates-to-be. Set to be unveiled in China sometime later this year, the model has been confirmed to wear the name Envision – at least in that market. That's the name which the concept version wore three years ago, but we're still waiting on word over whether that name will carry over to the US version or whether we should expect something different like Anthem . But we have to admit that Envision fits better in the brand's crossover naming scheme. Shanghai GM isn't saying much about the Envision in the press release below , aside from it having "dynamic and assertive styling" backed by all-wheel drive and stop/start ignition. The last time Buick offered a mid-size crossover in North America was with the Pontiac Aztek -based Rendezvous that was discontinued seven years ago.

Why such a complicated name? How will the chinese pronounce that? Every extra syllable used for the car's name is one less syllable the owner can use when cursing the proles that the owner's chauffeur just ran over. July 02 2014 at 2:01 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Reply
How about Envicta ? And how about not triplicating it through GMC and Chevy. But then again I see the GMC letters in ads for Buicks-they "combined" for New Gm (?)-so that Division is covered maybe. July 01 2014 at 9:34 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Reply
The day is coming when someone will say the generic word "car" and more people will envision crossover-type vehicles than traditional saloons or sedans. July 01 2014 at 3:01 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down Reply
Thank you Buick for continuing to use actual names for your vehicles. That detail alone adds class to the Buick lineup. Now how about a model we can actually get excited about?! July 01 2014 at 12:58 PM Report abuse Permalink +6 rate up rate down Reply 1 reply to audisp0rta4's comment
I've been waiting to hear something about this car for a while now. I'm glad Buick is putting a vehicle between the Encore and Enclave. I think they should call this new vehicle the Envison. Now...how much longer do we have to wait for that muscle car from you Buick? I know you have it coming. Whatever skoda rapid you call it, the Rivera, Grand National etc. we are ready for it! I personally rather see a new top line sedan (Electra, Park Avenue) or coupe (Riviera)
