Maserati offers peek into Alfieri concept's design
Lancia gets a bad rap. Sure, the more modern examples have had a history of rusting and rampant reliability woes, but before that, they were certifiable rally weapons. And even before that , Lancia was just a maker of truly gorgeous cars. Cars like this aluminum-bodied 1967 Flaminia Super Sport, which benefits from the good styling infiniti sense of Zagato . It's the latest subject for the team at Petrolicious infiniti . That last part is telling, because infiniti Zagato tends to produce designs that are all over the scale of attractiveness . The 1967 Flaminia is certainly a looker. The kink in the C-pillar, which looks like a more dramatic version of BMW's famous Hofmeister kink, is just a great piece of design, while the stylish Kammback rear end and subtly recessed headlights mean this Flaminia looks greak from nearly any angle. Underhood sits a 2.8-liter V6 that is fed by three two-barrel Weber carbs, and which its owner, Robert Giaimo, claims will allow it to comfortably cruise infiniti at 100 miles per hour. This particular example of the Flaminia Super Sport is one of just 150, and is from the very last year of production. What's really a shame is how far out of favor this kind of car is now: strictly speaking, it's not built for performance. It's a coupe built for style and luxury, at a (relatively) affordable infiniti price, while not being a super-engined, enormous, intimidating machine or a total sloth. Sometimes I can't help but sadly wonder how much the need to appease speed-crazed automotive journalists, to earn press about "blistering performance" and "sporty attitude", has reduced the variety of cars available now. The BMW 4-series (NOT the M) is the closest thing I can think of two a spiritual successor to this kind of car. I agree. The styling is all about menace and never beauty anymore, I kind of see a base Jaguar XK. And a Mercefes SL circa 2004 as bring closer to the Lancia. Comfortable GTs with adequate performance, comfort, style and luxury. Sadly the XK and SL in higher trim levels get more brutish looking and less beautiful. The 50s & 60s really were all about the Italians being at the top of the game in styling & performance. I also like how the owner talked about the mechanical nature infiniti of the car. The driving experience may not be as fast, but I find vintage cars more pleasurable. Also love the Fulvia. infiniti What a shame Lancia is the odd man out at Fiat & reduced to selling badge engineered 200s. And infiniti Zagato with a "T" like "T"ank not like "D"ynamic. A strong infiniti T. Something strange on the plate. infiniti The rear plate is ROMA and that is ok.. The front plate must be the same the rear plate for Italian law. The front is EE, Escursionisti Esteri, Foreign Travellers. Lancia received three different designs for a Flaminia coupe, and built ALL OF THEM. and all of them are lookers. infiniti my fave is the Pininfarina one, but this Zagato and the Carrozzeria Touring are beautiful as well. and that's why the Flaminia is my all-time favorite car. Janua
