Blow championship Formula 1 Honda, who is considered the world's largest engine manufacturer and the second largest carmaker in Japan, has announced plans to retire immediately prestigious motor sport, because of the global economic crisis. This means that one group less round, less interest in the competition, dominated in recent years by two major groups - Ferrari and McLaren-Mercedes.
In a press release issued by the manufacturer, says Honda President and CEO, Takao Fokwei, the reasons for the sudden retirement: "This difficult decision was made in view of the rapid deterioration ... as a result of the sub-prime problem in the United States, worsening credit crisis and the sudden withdrawal of the global economy."
Honda has participated in Formula 1 since 1963, but withdrew and returned several times over the years. In 1968 she left the competition because of the death of one of the drivers in an accident in 1983 in which the supplier motors, but in 1992 also left this activity. In 2000, the Japanese returned with a group of BAR, and from -2006 conducted an independent Formula 1 team, who enjoyed significant success - despite the very large financial investment.
